The Tides of Fate Series: A Deep Dive into the World of Caley Robison's Epic Fantasy

Welcome, fellow fantasy lovers and avid readers, to the official blog of the "Tides of Fate" series. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer to the world of Tides of Deception and Tides of War, there’s always something magical waiting for you here.

Behind the Scenes of Tides of Deception

Creating the world of "Tides of Fate" has been an incredible journey. When I first started working on Tides of Deception, I had a vision of a world where fate isn't just a concept, but a powerful force that rives the story forward.

Character-Driven Stories:

One of the key elements that set "Tides of Deception" apart is the depth of its characters. I love that we see insight into each of the main characters points of view. It was a big decision when I made it because I was already in the middle of writing and if we only stuck to Cassia's, the female main character's, point of view we wouldn't get the delicious insights into the inner workings of each characters designs and motivations in the same way, and I believe it makes the depth of my work that much richer. Each character is intricately designed to bring their own unique flair to the story. I believe that characters should feel as real as the readers themselves, with their own flaws, strengths, and growth throughout the series.

World-Building in Tides of War

Epic Fantasy:

World-building is at the heart of the "Tides of Fate" series. In Tides of War, I wanted to expand on the rich tapestry of lands, cultures, and histories introduced in the first book. Creating new realms, mythical creatures, and the complex politics of each kingdom was both challenging and exhilarating. For me, writing Tides of Deception was laying the foundation of the story. Then, in Tides of War, I really got to have fun.

Plot Development:

Crafting the plot of Tides of War involved weaving together multiple storylines, each filled with twists and turns. The stakes are higher, the battles more intense, and the deception runs deeper than ever before. It’s a true epic fantasy adventure that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

Engaging with My Readers

Fantasy Series:

One of the greatest joys of being an author is engaging with you, the readers. Your theories, feedback, and enthusiasm for the "Tides of Fate" series fuel my creativity. I love hearing how you connect with the characters and the world, and I’m always eager to see your fan art and read your interpretations. There is nothing better to me as an author than to wake up to a message on Instagram from one of you SCREAMING at me, or laughing hysterically, or just going off in general about how you hate or love one character, and you can't believe the plot twist! It truly has made this whole endeavor worth it, so keep them coming!

Book Lovers:

For those who love diving into the nitty-gritty details, here is a fun fact! There are multiple, and when I say multiple I mean I've lost track, movie and pop culture references is my books, from the obvious to the vague. Have you spotted any?

Sneak Peeks and Future Plans

Sneak Peeks: As a special treat, I’m excited to share a sneak peek of what’s to come. The third book in the series, Tides of Gods & Men is in the works! It will delve even deeper into the mysteries and legends that have been hinted at in the first two books. Expect more action, more magic, and jaw dropping plot twists that will leave you breathless. Stay Tuned!

Upcoming Projects: In addition to continuing the "Tides of Fate" series, I’m also working on a side project for the narration studio, Audio Mazes! It's a short story that I've been calling, "Of Fire and Ashes," where you can choose where the adventure takes you.

Writing Tips for Aspiring Authors

Writing Tips:

I often get asked about my writing process, so here are a few tips for aspiring authors:

  1. The best advice I can give is to just start, and have fun. I truly believe that if you're having fun writing the story, then your audience will have fun reading it. Whether that means writing by the seat of your pants, planning every little detail, or some combination of the two, I really believe that as long as you're having fun you can't go wrong.

  2. Pushing yourself to write on days you cant get into the story is advice I hear a lot, and while there may be some merit to that, in my experience whenever I do that what I come up with doesn't really pan out because its more of a chore and less for fun. However there have been many times I didn't feel like writing but I made myself sit down and try for 5-10 minutes, at which point I really began to enjoy myself and got a lot done!

  3. Every now and again, a character will go off script. My advice is to see where your characters take you and trust the process. All of the best moments in my books have happened because I let my characters do what they want and somehow it always works out better than I imagined in the end.
